A Pop-Up Marché at Ocabanon

OCabanon had this wonderful pop-up marché event at its restaurant on Saturday afternoon. All New York Francophiles were welcomed. There were different vendors offering samples of their French food products. It was a very tasty time indeed.

The event was made in partnership with Edible and Taste France. There were vendors for Président butter, Valbreso cheese, Nergi kiwi berries, Perrier, Bornibus, and La French Baguette.

Three wine tickets were offered to each attendee. We tried red wine, rosé, and white wine. They were all really smooth wines. But that wasn’t all of the drinks. At the Perrier stand, we were served sparkling water with French vodka. To my surprise, it was really good! Similar to a vodka soda, I think I would order it if I was watching my calories.

Towards the end of the afternoon, we participated in a baguette making class with La French Baguette. I did not know about La French Baguette. It’s a baguette kit with the exact amount of flour you need and you just have to add water and a pinch of salt. Et voila! You have yourself a little baguette.

I would buy this kit again because sometimes it does feel overwhelming to measure flour. I’m not a big baker and a lot of the time, my breads come out perfect. But then again, if you practice enough, you can perfect the art of making a baguette.

French Wink

On top of the vendors that were there, you could also visit OCabanon’s little French market, French Wink. I’ve always loved this petit marché. They have a good selection of French products including Nuxe beauty products, Maison Berger, Le Petit Marseillais, et St. Michel.

Just being in that market made me want to go back to Paris and practice my French. It even inspired me to write this post.

I am so happy that OCabanon is hosting these great events. It would be amazing to attend another one.
